Softsculpt – Gold Lines

A sheet of heavyweight Softsculpt in white was heated with a heat tool (usual wattage range 300w - 360w) until the surface shimmered. A commercially bought stamp was then pressed into the heated surface of the Softsculpt.

The surface was then painted with Stewart Gill Metamica (Bright Gold) and while the paint was wet some Polyglitter was sprinkled onto the surface.

Softsculpt – Celtic Red

A sheet of lightweight Softsculpt in white was heated with a heat tool (usual wattage range 300w - 360w) until the surface shimmered. A commercially bought stamp was then pressed into the heated surface of the Softsculpt.

The surface was then painted with Stewart Gill Colourise (Pillarbox) and when dry, highlighted with Stewart Gill Galactica (Emerald).

Transfer dyes – Wire Resist

A piece of wire was coiled and used as a resist when colouring a piece of Timtex with  Transfer dyes (Lime Green & Lemon & Scarlet). The dyed papers were scrunched before transferring to create an interesting background.  Be careful when removing the wire from the Timtex as the wire will be very HOT.

Transfer Dye – Blue Resist

Masking fluid was painted and stamped onto a sheet of photocopying paper and allowed to dry. The paper was painted with  Transfer dye (Vivid Blue) and allowed to dry. This was then heat transferred to a piece of Timtex.

Transfer Dye & Transfer Dye Crayons – Cracked Leather

Photocopying paper was painted with  Transfer dye (Scarlet) and allowed to dry. The paper was scrunched up, opened out and heat transferred to a piece of fabric. The ridges that were produced in the dyed paper were rubbed over with  Fabric Transfer Crayons (Blue & Light blue) & heat transferred to the same piece of fabric creating the “veins”.

Transfer Dye – Leaf Resist

The leaf was placed on a piece of fabric and a sheet of photocopying paper dyed with Transfer dyes (Golden Yellow & Orange) was laid over the leaf and the colour was heat transferred to the fabric.

Transfer Dye & Transfer Dye Crayons – Pink Petal

A sheet of photocopying paper was randomly dyed with  Transfer dyes (Vivid Blue, Wine Red, Lemon), and when dry, a black Fabric Transfer Crayon was rubbed over the paper. A darning needle was used to “score” a design into the surface and this was then transferred to a piece of fabric.

Transfoil – Heart

A piece of Bondaweb was cut into a heart shape & applied to a piece of fabric. The protective backing paper was removed. The right hand side of the heart was covered with a sheet of Rainbow Transfoil and the left hand side was sprinkled with Stewart Gill Polyglitter (Purple). A sheet of silicone baking paper was placed on the surface and the re-heated using an iron. This re-activates the “glue” and the transfoil and polyglitter will stick to the Bondaweb heart shape.

Transfoils – Gold Flash

The ground fabric was coloured with torn strips of Colourcraft Transfer dyes (Wine Red, Vivid Blue) Bondaweb was painted with dilute Purple Aztec Metallic Lustre Mix (about the consistency of single cream) allowed to dry. Torn pieces of painted Bondaweb were applied to the fabric with an iron. A sheet of Gold Transfoil was placed on top of the Bondaweb followed by a piece of silicone baking parchment. The edge of the iron was used to reactivate the “glue” in the Bondaweb and create the thin strips of gold Transfoil.

Transfoils – Gold Swirl

White cotton upholstery velvet was transfer printed with Colourcraft Transfer dyes, which had been thickened with Manutex as this allows you to print onto the transfer paper. Plexiglue was used directly from the applicator bottle to create the scroll shape. Once the glue was dry (it goes from white to clear) a sheet of Gold Transfoil rubbed over the scroll.
